Biography
Founded during their university years by two high school friends, Gece Yolcuları built a solid fan base by performing at numerous festivals throughout their amateur career. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2004 under the EMI Turkey label. The first single "Unut Beni" received great acclaim and quickly became a hit. With tracks from the same album,
"Yaban Gülü" and "Ölüm de Var" proved they were strong contenders for the title of the country's most important music group, capable of producing hit after hit. In their second studio album, alongside songs like "Hüzün" and "Nerdesin", they ushered in a brand new era with their symphonic cover arrangement of "Seninle Bir Dakika".
While quickly carving out their own lane with their vocal talent, distinctive style, motto-like lyrics and original sound, they also put their name to numerous side music projects.
Custom music for a wide variety of social responsibility projects, the Fenerbahçe SK 100th Anniversary Anthem, the Trabzonspor SK 40th Anniversary Anthem, and "Ba Beyli" for the soundtrack of Ömer Faruk Sorak's film "Sınav" are just a few examples.
In 2008, with "Kalbin Kadar Yakın", they had the opportunity to offer their fans a collection of more upbeat songs. On this album they pulled off yet another revolution, delivering the most ambitious cover interpretation in the country of "Değer mi Hiç" — one of the most cult tracks in Turkish pop music history. Teaming up with Ramiz to produce a very special example of Rap/Rock fusion, they created a classy piece both sonically and interpretively, and turned the charts upside down.
In the first quarter of 2010, the group released the melancholic-toned maxi-single "GC 2010", which included songs such as "Bir Bilsen" and "Dönülmüyor". In 2013, the group released their fourth studio album, "Neden". This album became one of the most successful albums in Turkish rock music history. And… once again, they raised the bar very high. The group, which brought hits like "Meyhaneler Sen…", "Affedecek Misin?", "Neden?" and "Zaman Geçse De" into our musical world, continued their career at full speed with concerts both at home and abroad. They completed the country's longest-running university tour together with Mercedes-Benz Turkey. They also appeared — with their own arrangements — on memorial albums dedicated to some of our country's legendary veteran artists. Among these were Nilüfer's "12 Düet" in 2011, "Bir Eksiğiz: Ahmet Kaya" in 2014, and "Zülfü Livaneli 50. Yıl – Bir Kuşaktan Bir Kuşağa" in 2016.
In 2017, they released their first single "Yalan". This highly successful song was also a memento from the group's Balkan tour. Gece Yolcuları's subsequent single, a cover of Suat Suna's "Pişmanım", was released in 2019 and made a big impact.
Before 2020, they also pioneered a brand new trend with their stage project called Baba Şarkılar.
They performed special songs by the great masters, bringing their own interpretations alongside various orchestras.
Between 2020 and 2026, Gece Yolcuları continued their active stage and concert series at full pace with tracks such as "Birisi Var", "Suç Mahalli" and "Sus".
The group is currently working on a new studio album.
